The Bachelor of Science in Music with a concentration in Music Education (Vocal/General Music Track) at ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ Southeast prepares you to become a licensed music educator in both Indiana and Kentucky. This program is for students who want to teach vocal and general music in elementary, middle, or high schools.

The Music Education program at IU Southeast is a joint effort between the Music Department in the School of Arts & Letters and the School of Education, giving you access to expert faculty in both music and pedagogy. You’ll work alongside fellow students who share your passion for teaching, and you’ll be supported every step of the way with advising and academic guidance from both schools.

Admission is selective, and students are encouraged to apply early and prepare thoroughly for the audition process. Once accepted, you’ll begin building your skills as both a musician and an educator.
Graduates of the Music Education program at IU Southeast are prepared to teach in elementary, middle, and high schools in the Kentuckiana region. With licensure options in both states, our alumni are actively shaping the next generation of musicians, performers, and music lovers.
