Issues students may encounter
成人快手 Southeast is dedicated to offering all students a way to share their concerns and complaints with the university to help reach fair and equitable resolutions.
There are two main types of student issues at IU Southeast: academic and non-academic.
Who to contact
The person/place to contact depends on the severity of the issue, as detailed in the following sections.
In addition, the Dean of Students is available to help students with any concern or complaint.
Student concerns are informal and can often be resolved through simple communication such as emails, conversations, or meetings.
The university recommends that students communicate these types of concerns directly to the person or office involved.
If a student is uncomfortable meeting directly with the person, they can request a meeting with that person’s supervisor to discuss the concern.
Every office on campus is committed to addressing student concerns promptly.
Some student issues are more serious and require a formal process, which includes submitting a written notification.
There are specific policies and processes for formal student complaints across the university. Some processes require a specific form to be completed, while others allow the student to begin the formal process by communicating directly in writing to the person involved.
The university keeps records of all student complaints and grievances.
Overview of steps for resolution of student complaints by type
The steps for resolving a concern or complaint differ based on the type of the complaint.
Grade related
If you are an undergraduate student and you feel you’ve been graded unfairly or that you could do better in a class, you have options for trying to raise your GPA.
The Grade Appeals process is detailed in the Student Central webpages. If you have any questions about the process, contact Student Central at ius.studentcentral@iu.edu.
Other matters related to an instructor or academic program
For instructor- or class-related issues, contact the instructor first, and if the matter is not resolved, contact the associate dean for the school.
For academic program-related issues, contact the associate dean first, and then the school dean if it remains unresolved.
If the issue is still not resolved, a student may file a formal grievance by submitting a formal grievance form.
