IU Southeast Writing Competition
Categories:
- Poetry
- Flash Fiction (limit: 1000 words)
- Fiction (limit: 7500 words)
- Creative Nonfiction (limit: 7500 words)
Prizes:
Cash prizes for 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd place entries in each category.
Winners will be honored during the annual English Department Gala in May 2026.
Entry Information:
To be eligible, students need to have been enrolled for a full semester from Summer I 2022 to Spring 2026.
Limit: Two entries per student per category. You may submit in as many categories as you like, but each entry must be submitted separately.
Submission Guidelines:
- Submissions must be attached to an email to iuswrite@iu.edu
- Submit entry in 12-point font, double-spaced. Poetry may be single-spaced.
- In the body of the email, itself, include the following:
- Your full name (do not put your name on the attached submission)
- The category of your submission: Poetry, Flash Fiction, Fiction, Creative Non-fiction
- Your IU email for official competition communications
