Student Research & Creativity Fellowships

These fellowships support IU Southeast students pursuing major independent research or creative projects under the guidance of a faculty mentor. All students—regardless of discipline, credit hours, or enrollment status—are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility

  • Must be currently enrolled at IU Southeast
  • Open to all students—part-time, full-time, any major or level

Faculty Mentors

  • Must be a full-time tenured, tenure-track, or lecturer faculty member
  • In special cases, part-time or visiting faculty may serve as a mentor with a co-mentor from full-time faculty

Award Details

  • Student stipend: Maximum of $1,300 (100 hours at $13/hour)
  • Optional supplies funding: Up to $300 for research supplies/equipment (requires a detailed budget)
  • Faculty mentor stipend: $500 (shared if two mentors)

Optional Academic Credit

  • You may choose to earn 1–3 academic credits for your project (consult with your mentor and academic advisor)

Final Project and Presentation

You must present your final project or research. Dissemination opportunities may include:

  • IUURC (成人快手 Undergraduate Research Conference) (fall)
  • Regionals at the Rotunda (spring)
  • IUS Student Research Conference (spring)

How to Apply

  • Identify a topic for your research/creative project.
  • Identify a faculty member who will mentor you in implementing and presenting your project.
  • Prepare all required attachments
    • Project proposal (see requirements on application page)
    • Faculty mentor documentation
    • Detailed budget (only needed if applying for supplies funds)
